About Us

Morse Street School houses some of the youngest students in RSU No 5.
We have a Freeport Preschool Program for students aged three through five.
In addition to that, we have five Kindergarten classrooms, five first grade
classrooms, and five second grade classrooms for a total enrollment of two-
hundred and sixty. In addition to the public school population, we have two rooms
used by the Community Education and Recreation Department: Laugh and
Learn. They provide before and after care and two sessions of nursery school .
Our class size averages between seventeen and eighteen students per class.

We provide a balanced developmental program for our students recognizing
their need to play and learn from social interactions with an appropriate academic
focus on literacy and numeracy. Our students benefit from specialized instruction
in art, music, physical education and library skills. We have a fully staffed special
education department for students with learning challenges. Families volunteer
on a regular basis and also are very active in our Parent Teacher Club which
raised funds for enrichment activities.
